DRAMA SERIES
To be honest, I'm not really in the mood to discuss about GENERAL HOSPITAL scoring no nods in any major category.
Who will take home the big award? Odds proclaim NBC's DAYS OF OUR LIVES as the victor for the second consecutive year, which would be only the second time in over 35 years that the NBC sudser won the big honor. Last year being the first since 1976. However, BOLD AND BEAUTIFUL could also easily win as well. [Now is the time to automatically discard ONE LIFE TO LIVE and virtually discard THE YOUNG AND THE RESTLESS.]
DIRECTING
THE YOUNG AND THE RESTLESS for its twelfth pick-me-up. Not much else to say.
Should Win: The Young and the Restless
Will Win: The Young and the Restless
WRITING
DAYS OF OUR LIVES with its timeless, flawless dialogue and breakdowns. This show never seems to fails (in the past 2 years, at least. Still bitter about Marlene McPherson's firing, but, eh.)
SHOULD WIN: Days Of Our Lives
WILL WIN: Days Of Our Lives
LEAD ACTING
Easy to predict this year, yet not really. Billy Miller should most definitely take this one for the team, and he will; however, Jason Thompson's reel was overly-compelling and masterfully acted, and he's long overdue, to say the least. Doug Davidson could surprise... but he won't.
SHOULD WIN: Jason Thompson (GH)
WILL WIN: Billy Miller (Y&R)
Actress is easy to predict... but it's not, at the same time. Eileen Davidson should win her first, what a different yet beautifully done reel... but she probably won't. Because here comes Heather Tom again, with this OUTSTANDING reel, filled with overwrought emotion and passion. Ugh. I hate to love Heather's acting most times.
SHOULD WIN: Eileen Davidson (DAYS)
WILL WIN: Heather Tom (B&B)
SUPPORTING ACTING
This one SHOULD be easily, but it's not. GENERAL HOSPITAL should easily be able to sweep both supporting acting categories, with Bradford Anderson and Jane Elliot taking them home. Jane delivered her BEST performance yet, and she even succumbed to us fans by submitting it for EMMY consideration. But Elizabeth Hendrickson could pull an upset with her first nomination and win. Bradford submitted another emotionally raw reel, just like every other year he has been nominated. It's his time, but Scott Clifton could pull a back-to-back.
SHOULD WIN: Bradford Anderson (GH)
WILL WIN: Scott Clifton (B&B)
SHOULD WIN: Jane Elliot (GH)
WILL WIN: Jane Elliot (GH)
YOUTH ACTING
This is what they call a "tough-y". Everything in me wants Kelley Missal to get the honor for Younger Actress, she's done some great work on OLTL on both renditions. Everything in me also wants/thinks Kristen Alderson should/will pull a back-to-back for her heartfelt confrontation-centric reel with Brandon Barash. And if Lindsey Godfrey or Kim Matula takes it, I just might never watch the EMMY's ever again.
Ok... maybe that's just me over exaggerating. But, let's be real.
Younger Actor SHOULDN'T even be a standoff. This SHOULD be one of the easiest predicted categories of this year's ceremony. Bryan Craig HANDS-DOWN deserves the statuette for his 13 minute confrontation reel. He layed everything down he could ever do as an actor in those scenes. Chandler Massey will win... walking away with his third consecutive EMMY in the category. Oh, and he'll also win next year, too. No bother predicting that one either.
SHOULD WIN: Kelley Missal (OLTL)
WILL WIN: Kristen Alderson (GH)
